Wedding photographer with a knack for picture perfect details and a heart that beats for travel and adventure.
Your wedding week is underway, you’ve arrived at your destination, everything is set, but what to do the morning of your destination wedding? Before the bustle, the morning of your wedding can be as calm or as wild as you want. I’d be relaxing on the beach all morning! Hello, sunshine! But what I like might not be how you’d like to spend your morning. Make it as personal and true to you as possible. Because this.is.your.day!
That being said, we have a few of our favorite suggestions to spend the morning of your destination wedding. Our hope is that one of these rings true to you! Some of us need peace and tranquility beforehand. Whereas some of us want to know what needs our attention before everyone arrives. Either way, pull up a beach chair with me, and keep reading!
Feel those pre-wedding jitters? Although you don’t need to have jitters to relax, a relaxing morning before your wedding can ease any rushing emotions and adrenaline. The hardest part is to make sure you’re not doing anything related to the wedding! How? Relax by sleeping in. Indulge in quiet time alone. Enjoy light exercise or stretches. Relax by reading, journaling, or simply walking at the beach. The options don’t stop there, girlfriend!
Ultimately, creating an hour or two of peace before the high-energy, whirlwind of your day is a great option. Meditate, steam in the jacuzzi, slowly start your day. Think about how you’d like to relax the morning of your destination wedding. Plan ahead, and if your resort has any additional relaxing options, book it! Some resorts include swim-up suites, an in-suite jacuzzi, and even a spa package. Enter the festivities feeling clear and rejuvenated after a morning of relaxation.
Slow down your morning by spending it with your partner. Chat in bed, take a walk together, swim in the ocean, or do nothing at all! The morning of your destination wedding does not have to be planned. Waking up alongside the person you’re about to marry is special in itself. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the bustle of the day. Appreciate a calm morning with your fiance in a beautiful resort, just the two of you.
Additionally, you can read vows to each other the morning of your destination wedding. Read your vows aloud in the privacy of your room. This is an intimate way to start the morning of your destination wedding with love – and maybe a few tears!
Another chill option, savor breakfast in bed alone or with your fiance the morning of your destination wedding. Order room service! Order food and caffeinated beverages from your favorite cafe to be delivered to your room. Love cooking with your partner? If your suite has a kitchenette, plan ahead of time what you and your fiance want to make so that everything you need is already there. Make breakfast together with music, laughs, and fun! Then enjoy the morning eating on the balcony before the rush of festivities.
Add a little local flair to the morning of your destination wedding. Enjoy breakfast in bed made from a local breakfast shop or food stand. Tying the knot in Jamaica? A traditional Jamaican breakfast usually includes fruit, saltfish fritters, or salt mackerel with steamed cabbage and tea. Getting married in Mexico? Savor a cactus omelet!
Typically, we encourage couples to relax in the morning. You’ll feel alllll the emotions later! However, we also understand if you want to know if everything is in order. The morning of your destination wedding can often be filled with a mental to-do list a mile long. Did everyone get here okay? Are the centerpieces set? Did I forget to pack my shoes? It’s okay to rush around making sure everything is absolutely perfect – if it helps you relax in the long run.
Believe me, I know that reassuring feeling when you’ve checked everything yourself. But, you have a team of professionals surrounding you for this purpose. Some brides even delegate tasks to the wedding party. Many people care about the success of your big day. We got you covered! That being said, if you still need a once-over, great! But then grab a mimosa and hop in the jacuzzi!
Did someone say mimosas? Girlfriend, you don’t have to work today. You don’t have meetings. Why not start sipping your favorite drink the morning of your wedding? Take your bride-tribe and find the nearest bar in your resort. Better yet, if you want to kick back in your hotel room, send your bride-tribe out for your favorite drink. Spend the morning with a splash of bubbly and giggling with besties!
Additionally, you can share a mimosa with your fiance, or invite the entire wedding party to indulge in morning refreshments! Stick with orange juice and champagne, or mix it up with a Bloody Mary bar! You can’t go wrong with big batch cocktails. Serve your favorite drink or even a sneak-peak of your reception’s signature drinks.

Still looking for what to do the morning of your destination wedding? Hang out with the people you love most! There’s nothing wrong with wanting to spend as much time as possible with your favorite people. And spending quality time with the people you love in a destination you love – what’s better than that!?
Hang out in your suite, go out for breakfast, go for a swim, sit and hang on the beach, do something you all love to do! This can include your wedding party only, or as many close family and friends as you want. Be as chill or as wild as you wish. Invite everyone on a mini-excursion (read on for more thrilling options like that!). Leave an open invitation to anyone who wants to join you for mimosas at the resort bar. Encourage your bride tribe to book manicures at the resort spa that morning.
Speaking of manicures and spas! This is the ultimate relaxing way to start your morning! Book a session for just yourself or with all your bridesmaids/men to get the full spa experience. Sit back, and absorb all the moisturizers, seaweed, and cucumbers. Feel the tension (or any pre-wedding nerves) melt away. Start happy-dancing now!
Know this is how you want to spend the morning of your destination wedding? Check out a resort that has it all; from your dream ceremony, to all of your relaxing needs. I have the resort for you: Sandals South Coast in Jamaica! Their over-the-water bungalows and spas are dreamy! Additionally, almost all of the Couples Resorts have oasis spas for you and your guests to pamper themselves. Furthermore, choosing a spa within the resort is less travel for you and your bride tribe the morning of your destination wedding.
Where are my super-motivated, gotta-get-that-booty-work-in brides!? Doing something active in the morning of your destination wedding is a great option! Especially if you’re used to having a morning workout in your normal schedule. If you have any nerves to calm down, exerting a little low-impact walking, swimming, or even sitting in the hot tub, can calm down those racing thoughts and all the anticipation of your big day.
Here are a few ideas:
Make sure you hydrate! After any physical activity, it’s important to refuel with a good breakfast, and fluids. Yes, that means water, girlfriend. Hydration is the best way for you to be on your A-game for your ceremony! Plus you’ll look amazing in your photos!
Afraid you won’t get the photos you want with the time you have? No need to worry! We are with you every step of your destination wedding, it’s what we do! One of our favorite parts is the couples session. We recommend couples photos the day before or after your wedding.
However, if the rest of your week is booked, let’s preserve the morning of your destination wedding with a mini-couples session. No need to dress up! Lounge in cozy robes while we capture the romance and butterflies the morning of your big day.
Let’s chat about your timeline to see what works best for you! Interested in a boudoir session before your wedding, we’re all for that! Imagine doing a spicy, empowering boudoir session in your gorgeous hotel suite! You’ll be walking down the aisle with an extra spring of confidence in your step!
An unexpected way to spice up the morning of your destination wedding is to gift your boudoir photos. Your fiance will never anticipate a gift like this! If you don’t plan on seeing your partner the morning of your wedding, gift your boudoir album the night before. No matter if it’s the night before or the morning of your wedding, it’s an exhilarating way to start the festivities! Hand the album over and watch their reaction unfold!
Exchanging gifts in the privacy of your hotel room is a great way to feel connected to your fiance before a busy day. And it doesn’t need to be a steamy album of photos. Give custom cufflinks, an embroidered handkerchief, or a handwritten note. Besides sharing a sweet word, kiss, or even chocolates, some couples prefer this intimate moment before the wedding in order to get some waterworks out of the way.
Still wondering what to do the morning of your destination wedding? If you can’t wait to take in as much adventure offered from your destination as possible, plan a mini-excursion! Check the hours of operation, but if a tour has an early reservation, book it! Take an early morning scuba diving lesson. Paddle with your fiance out on the water – always wear sunscreen! Hike a short trail – don’t forget to hydrate! Kick-start the morning of your destination wedding in an exhilarating way:
If your morning-of is to not have a plan, to leisurely get out of bed, and spend quality time with your fiance, then there isn’t much prepping for you to do. On the other hand, if you want to spend the morning of your destination wedding at a spa, excursion, or breakfast, make sure you spend a little time planning for those things. Book your morning adventure. Keep in mind your timeline. Make sure you have transportation sorted out beforehand. Shop for things like groceries, outfits, outdoor essentials, etc. prior to the morning of. And just have fun!
Lastly, make it your own! This entire day – this entire experience! – is about you. (and your partner… but mostly you). Close your eyes and think about what sunny, wanderlust, once-in-a-morning thing you’d want to do before you say, “I do.” This only happens once in a lifetime, after all.
