The big difference between TSA Precheck vs. Global Entry is that TSA Precheck provides security screening benefits for flights departing U.S. airports (domestic travel). Global Entry includes TSA Precheck benefits plus screening benefits for international travel when entering the United States (yes please!) which allows you fast-track lines through customs. Both are a five year membership.

• KTN: Known Traveler Number during airline reservation to receive a TSA Precheck indicator on your ticket

• You don’t have to take off shoes, belt, 3-1-1 liquids, laptops, or light jacket through security
• Family members ages 12 and under can join you in the TSA Precheck line without applying
• Many participating airports!

Global Entry

Global Entry is TSA Precheck times ten! Not only does this program include benefits on departures, but includes entry into the United States from any destination. Sign me up!

• Faster travel experience for entry into the U.S. from International destinations
• Cost: $100 USD
• 5 year membership
• Online application
• Interview at an Enrollment Center/Homeland Security
• Thorough security screening, criminal history check, employment history, address history, licensure, and FBI background check
• Fingerprinted
• Global Entry Card
• Trusted Traveler’s membership number (through the Trusted Traveler Program)
• Obtain a login.gov account
• Special line through security
• You don’t have to take off shoes, belt, 3-1-1 liquids, laptops, or light jacket through security (meaning, Global Entry includes TSA Precheck – woohoo!!)
• All international airports have Global Entry 
• Scan and go!
• Options for Enrollment on Arrival

Other Options

• NEXUS – entry into the U.S. from Canada, $50 USD (includes air, land, and sea!)
• SENTRI – departures from the U.S. to Canada and Mexico, $122.25 USD
