Wedding photographer with a knack for picture perfect details and a heart that beats for travel and adventure.
Megan and Ryan met interning at the University of Minnesota within the Women’s Basketball strength and conditioning department. Also working nights at Bed Bath and Beyond, Megan and Ryan saw each other all day long, of course falling in love.
Spending time with these two, it is evident that Megan and Ryan share laughter and love easily. And although both are acquainted with Minnesota winters, neither could anticipate what kind of October weather Wisconsin might bring on their wedding day. It was cold! However, their families were very sweet, and offered Megan a shawl when we headed out to take couples portraits.
Many of Megan and Ryan’s family and friends traveled to Butte des Morts Country Club from out of state; and all guests were ready to celebrate! The couple chose Butte des Morts for its overall charm, magnificent staircase, and gorgeous willow tree on the beautiful property. We made sure to take photos of Megan’s dress by the willow tree, and as a focal piece along the staircase before the ceremony began.
Incorporating the person who actually introduced Megan and Ryan, their friend Ralph officiated the wedding ceremony on the rooftop terrace of the country club. Megan was stunning in her gown from the Wedding Shoppe. Her bridesmaids wore elegant dresses from JJ’s House, while Ryan and his groomsmen wore sharp suits from Men’s Wearhouse. Candles along the aisle created a romantic feeling.
Cocktail hour was held inside, where everyone could warm up and enjoy finger food and hot cider. Megan even stole a Manderfield’s cupcake to snack on before we took family photos! The afternoon was a casual combination of romance and fun. The stress-free atmosphere was carefully organized by Jenny Smith with Smith Event Professionals, and her onsite coordinator, Amber. Megan’s family were also fantastic hosts!
The reception was held in the main room of Butte des Morts Country Club, accommodating their entire guest list. Smith Event Professionals created detailed displays and interactive stations for family and friends to enjoy. There was a “falling in love” themed cupcake display, a fall decorated “find your seat” sign, decorated arbor that was moved from the ceremony to the reception, and a specific display honoring parents and grandparents. The hot apple cider station had options to spike the cider if guests wanted, and flavor-infused water for an extra hydrating option. The gift table also incorporated fall themed leaves for people to sign and decorate.
The evening continued with delicious food, such as ribeye, walleye and chicken, catered by the country club. The best man, maid of honor, and Megan’s father gave toasts and anecdotes. Tim Dorsey with Dorsey Entertainment did much more than press play on the music – he sang and played an electric keyboard, creating personalized live music that fit Megan and Ryan’s style.
Megan and Ryan’s wedding was a perfect combination of pure romance and organized fun! They plan to honeymoon in North Carolina to explore, hike, and start their adventure as husband and wife before returning home to Ohio.
