Wedding photographer with a knack for picture perfect details and a heart that beats for travel and adventure.
First off, congratulations on your engagement! This is such an exciting time in your relationship. But before you start thinking about all of your wedding planning, let’s talk about your engagement photos! This is the fun part – you get to decide how you want to portray your relationship and what kind of a couple you are. After all, these photos will likely be the perfect postcard for your Save The Dates!
I always love taking engagement photos outdoors, as there are so many options and backgrounds to work with. Not to mention all of the amazing natural light (seriously, look at the natural light in that greenhouse below!)! But there are countless options and different places in the great outdoors alone! Take Sarah and Devon for example. When they came to me wanting to have their engagement photos done on a fishing boat, I knew it would be total magic! The couple spend so much time on the water together, it was a no brainer. Mixing fun elements like this into your engagement session will really help to convey your style as a couple!
To me, this is a must. And it’s a great opportunity to see how you like your hair and makeup done, which can give you ideas for your wedding day look. If you are nervous about wearing false lashes, or don’t know whether you want an up-do or to keep your hair down, now is the time to test the waters and see what you like. So why not pop in for a consultation at your local hair salon and let them know you’re looking to try a few things for your engagement photos! Plus, who doesn’t love a little spa day, am I right?!
Your engagement photos are your chance to get comfortable in front of the camera with your partner! If you haven’t have any professional photos together, that’s totally fine. When you think about it, unless you have headshots or work photos, you probably haven’t posed for any professional pictures since graduation! This time is meant to laugh, and play with your loved one and suss each other out – and get your anxiety down with your photographer, so by the time you get married you’ll feel like old pros in front of the camera!
