Suprise Family

Stephanie and I met working as labor and delivery nurses at an area hospital a few years ago. Shortly after, she and Travis were married and now they’ve welcomed their son into the world!

There’s a thing that many labor and delivery nurses deal with when we are pregnant and delivering our babies… it’s referred to as ‘the nurse curse’… and, oh Lordy, it is real! For whatever reason, who knows why, but it seems more often than not, we have complications much more often than predicted. For example, Steph was put on bed rest to try to stop her pre-term labor… then was induced at 36 weeks… then had more complications in labor. And once Micah was born, he faced a few difficulties, too! (You see what I mean by Nurse Curse?!)

Travis and Stephanie are doing a fantastic job at overcoming these issues (look at Micah’s squishy cheeks!) and work so, so well together. You can tell already, just eleven days in, that they are great parents who are going to raise an amazing son.

Congratulations, again, Suprise Family! Thank you for allowing me to come into your home (on a football Sunday, at that!) and preserve these easily-forgotten first days together. Welcome to Parenthood!
